Red Glass and Silver Scent Bottle - Antique Circa 1880

£1,995.00

An exceptional, fine and impressive, rare antique red glass and silver scent bottle - boxed; an addition to our military collectables collection

SKU C9902

This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver scent bottle has a panelled cylindrical form.

This exceptional antique scent bottle is comprised of a cranberry glass body, with an impressive hinged push fit cover to either end, each realistically modelled in the form of regimental caps.

The caps bear a plain globular finial to the upper portion and an applied Royal coronet to the anterior surface.

The interior of one cap bears the renowned silversmiths mark 'S Morden & Co, London'; there are no full British hallmarks as to be expected with such a piece of this period.

The impressive double scent bottle retains the original gilding.

The scent bottle is fitted to a rectangular hinged leatherette presentation box, with a velvet and satin lined interior.

This exceptional scent bottle is the finest of its type you could hope to acquire.

An antique red glass scent bottle with military interest is best suited to occasions that celebrate history, individuality and sentimental connection, making it an especially thoughtful gift for collectors, military enthusiasts or those who appreciate unusual antique accessories. Scent bottles from the Victorian and Edwardian periods were prized personal items, often carried as elegant everyday luxuries, while military associations add an additional layer of historical significance and storytelling.

Date: Circa 1880

This Victorian silver perfume bottle is a superior gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The presentation box has wear in keeping with age.

The silversmith's mark to the interior of the cover is clear; the date can be determined by the composition and decoration.

Reflections in photographs may detract from this exceptional example military collectable.
