SKU C3062

This exceptional antique American cast Gorham silver spoon, in sterling standard, has a navette shaped form with a narrow stem handle and pointed terminal.

The elliptic shaped bowl is ornamented with pierced decoration replicating the veins of a leaf, encompassed with engraved details to form the leaf's texture and outline.

This sterling silver olive serving spoon is further ornamented with an elongated stem realistically modelled in the form of an olive branch, with a central cast olive and leaf design.

The terminal of this impressive Gorham sterling silver straining spoon features a tapering, tiered spear design.

This exceptional spoon retains the original gilding.

The hallmarks struck to the reverse of this impressive spoon include:

Maker's mark: G (Gorham Manufacturing Company)

Anchor mark: Gorham trademark anchor

Silver quality/purity mark: Sterling (925, 925/1000)

* This Aesthetic movement, naturalistic formed spoon can be found in the 1886-1890 Gorham catalogue and is listed as an 'Olive Spoon and Fork' despite the spear to the terminal, with a variation of the design presented with a two pronged fork.
