£2,950.00

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique George VI sterling silver biscuit box; an addition to our Art Deco silverware collection

SKU C9628

This exceptional, fine and impressive antique George VI English sterling silver biscuit box has a cylindrical form onto a circular spreading foot.

The panelled body of the silver box is plain and unembellished.

The upper rim of the box is encompassed with plain applied moulded borders to the rim.

This antique box retains the original hallmarked domed stepped push fit cover surmounted with the original silver topped painted finial, all in the Art Deco style.

The underside of the cannister bears the retailer's mark '28340, Elkington & Co'.

This exceptional Art Deco silver box, crafted by the renowned silversmiths Elkington & Co Ltd, is the finest of its type you could hope to acquire.

This Art Deco silver biscuit box tin reflects the clean lines and geometric elegance of the early 20th century, when such pieces were used to serve biscuits or small cakes during afternoon tea. Both practical and decorative, it functions beautifully as a table accessory or display object, and makes a thoughtful gift for housewarmings, weddings, anniversaries or for those who enjoy traditional entertaining.

Date: 1937

This antique biscuit box is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

This impressive box has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition.

The full British hallmarks struck to the surface of the body, in addition to the part hallmarks to the cover are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this example of Art Deco silverware.
