This stunning French numismatic antique pendant has been crafted in 18 ct yellow gold, with a 22ct yellow gold coin.
The impressive circular frame is ornamented with an impressive scalloped decorated border accented with twenty-four Dutch cut diamonds, totalling 0.40ct.
This scalloped design is further ornamented with an entwining inverted-scalloped border incorporating eight impressive individually collet set square faceted cut sapphires.
The anterior face of the 22ct yellow gold French coin, set to the centre of the design, depicts the laureate head portrait of Napoleon I with the elucidating text 'NAPOLEON EMPEREUR'.
The reverse of the coin displays the value of the piece '20 Francs' and year '1813' with a wreath, encompassed with the text 'EMPIRE FRANCAIS'.
The coin bears the mintmark Bayonne (L) which was in use between 1795-1835.
The sapphire necklace is suspended from a contemporary 18 ct yellow gold 45.72cm/18" trace chain via an integrated, hinged ring loop attachment.
The chain secures with a conventional spring-loaded bolt ring fastening.
This versatile pendant is fitted with an integrated hinged pin and clasp to the reverse to allow it to be worn as a brooch if so desired.
This pendant is hallmarked to the reverse with the 18ct mark (750) and has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as 18 ct and 22 ct gold.
